Genevieve Barrios

Genevieve Barrios Southgate’s passion is sharing her culture with the community. She aims to promote tolerance by illuminating Mexico’s heritage. Over the past 20 years, she has presented cultural awareness programs to schools throughout Southern California. As assistant director of education at Santa Ana’s Bowers Museum, her work creating children’s programs to further cultural understanding has earned her many accolades. She has twice been named the Orange County Hispanic Woman of the Year by the League of United Latin American Citizens and was the first Latina in Orange County awarded the Citizen of Distinction award by the local NAACP.

A Genevieve Barrios Southgate le fascina el compartir su cultura con su comunidad. Una de sus metas es el promover la cultura Mexicana. Por más de 20 años, ha realizado programas culturales en escuelas a través del sur de California. Como directora asistente de educación en el Bowers Museum de Santa Ana, su trabajo se enfoca en crear programas infantiles que promueven la cultura. Un trabajo que le ha otorgado varios reconocimientos. Dos veces ha sido nombrada “Orange County Hispanic Woman of the Year” por la organización “League of United Latin American Citizens” y fue la primera Latina en el condado de Orange galardonada con el premio “Citizen of Distinction” por la oficina local de la organización NAACP.
