What is the University Commencement Ceremony?

The University Commencement Ceremony will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. on Sunday. It features addresses from a distinguished keynote speaker, CSUF President Milton A. Gordon, and other dignitaries. This ceremony will begin with a formal processional of all graduates and end with a recessional on the lawn north of the gym. Tickets are not required to attend this ceremony.


What are the College / Department Ceremonies?

Following the University Ceremony, each college will have smaller ceremonies for graduates. Depending on the size of the college, some ceremonies will be by college and others will be split into smaller ceremonies by departments.


Do I Need Tickets?

Your guests will need tickets for the college/department ceremony. They will not need tickets for the 8 a.m. University Ceremony. Graduates do not need tickets to attend the college/department ceremonies.


How Many Tickets Can I Get?

Depending upon venue size and predicted attendance, graduates will receive between five and eight tickets for their guests. If you have further questions regarding tickets, contact your college coordinator.


Is My Student Parking Permit Valid for Commencement Weekend Parking?

Student parking permits will not be valid for on-campus parking on May 19 and 20. On-campus parking is restricted to carpools of 3 or more people per car who have a Commencement Parking Pass during Commencement Weekend (May 19 - 20). You will be given 2 Commencement Parking Passes for your guests when you pick up your Commencement Tickets. Students are encouraged to carpool with their guests. Non-carpools and those without Commencement Parking Passes will b directed to near-by off-campus parking (ie. Troy High School, Western College of Law, Hope University, etc).


How Do I Complete My Grad Check?

How Do I Know If I Am Eligible to Walk at the Commencement Ceremonies?

Once you have completed your Grad Check (January 2011, June 2011, or August 2011) through Admissions and Records, you are eligible to participate in the Commencement Ceremonies. You will not receive any further information from Admissions and Records regarding Commencement. Each college sends a Commencement Pamphlet to all graduates with information regarding the Ceremonies and schedules for the Commencement weekend. If you do not receive this information, you may pick it up in your college Dean's office.


I am a double major, can I attend both Ceremonies?

All double majors need to pick up their tickets at Titan Card. You are allowed to go to both ceremonies if they are on different days, otherwise you will need to pick the ceremony you would like to attend.


How Long Will the Ceremonies Last?

All Commencement ceremonies and activities will be completed by noon on Saturday, May 19 and Sunday, May 20. The 8 a.m. University Ceremony should be completed by approximately 9:30 a.m. and the college graduations will immediately follow. If you do not plan to attend the University Ceremony, please arrive as early as possible as traffic and parking become congested. Each of the college ceremonies will vary in duration; estimations can be found at the college/department pages.
