Goal 5 Gain Potential Savings

Transformation in the delivery of information technology services to gain potential savings

Opportunities to improve the IT organization begins with a hard look at how the business of IT is conducted. Strategies for reducing duplication of effort and wasteful spending will help lower overall costs and will enable IT to be a strategic partner with the University. For AY12-13 the Division of IT developed and completed the following initiatives to begin the transformation in the delivery of information technology services to realize potential savings.

Supporting Strategies

  • IT Purchasing Centralization (Non-consumable supplies, services and contracts; consumable supplies remain decentralized)
In collaboration with Contracts & Procurement and Purchasing develop a set of processes to centralize all campus-wide IT related purchases
  • Division of IT Reorganization Plan
IT will evaluate the current organizational chart to establish the needed structures, mechanisms and resources for success
  • IT Governance
Evaluate current governance and implement/update a new structure
