Monday, November 16 - International Film Festival - Langsdorf Hall 315 & 315b 7:00pm
A series of International films in different languages are offered all day Monday. Before each film begins, a professor from the Modern language and Literature will discuss the film.
Tuesday, November 17th - Exploring Ethnicity Workshop - TSU Bradford 12:00pm-1:30pm
How do you identify yourself and how to others identify you? Is this identity or label a result of your skin, eye and hair color, your family's cultural background, or both? This workshop explores society's attitudes about race, ethnicity and culture, our search for our "roots" and the values and ideas that are associated with ethnicity.
Tuesday, November 17th - Peace Corps Informational - University Hall 242 - 12:00pm-2:00pm
A Peace Corps representative will be available to answer your questions about volunteering in the Peace Corps - it's one of the best ways to become a true American ambassador and contribute to global community work.
Tuesday, November 17th - Study Abroad Informational & Panel - University Hall 242 4:00pm-5:00pm
Is a Poster competition and display of students who have studied outside of their home countries sharing their global experiences and attempting to persuade others to study abroad. This will be followed by a panel discussion of former and current study abroad participants sharing their experiences. To then be followed by an informational workshop of study abroad opportunities.
Wednesday, November 18th - International Coffee Break & Potluck - University Hall 242 11:00am-2:00pm
Everybody around the world eats. We eat different things. We eat different ways. Let’s celebrate that! To end the International Coffee Break Series, and the Cross Cultural Conversations series out of the office of International Education and Exchange, there will be a potluck for the participants of each respective series.
Wednesday, November 18th - Lavender Working Group - TSU 250 - 12:30pm-1:00pm
The Lavender Working Group was created to enhance the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) pride, visibility, and campus support. Programs include: Lavender Welcome, Lavender Pride Recognition Ceremony, and SafeSpace Program.
Wednesday, November 18th - Rally Against Hate - Quad 11:30am-1:00pm
Sponsored by the ASI Association for Intercultural Awareness (AICA), the event is an opportunity for CSUF students, faculty, and staff to unite against bigotry, intolerance, and discrimination. Join us as we listen to the voices of those affected by hate, learn about how we can combat hate on our campus, and explore resources for combating intolerance and come together united and determined to exact change.
Wednesday, November 18th - Study Abroad Application Workshop - University Hall 242 - 3:30pm-5:00pm
This workshop will explain the Cal State University, International programs application. Discover what is required to apply to the program and what to expect after applying. Topics include: writing a statement of purpose, asking faculty for recommendation letters, how to have a successful interview, and what scholarships are available.
Thursday, November 18th - Social Justice in Everyday Life Workshop - TSU Bradford - 12:00pm-1:30pm
Social Justice is not something that can be brought about simply through community involvement. There are choices you can make and things you can do everyday that can help bring about a more just world. These choices do not need to mean going without or depriving yourself of something you love. In this workshop, students will learn what some of these choices and actions are and will be encouraged to make social justice a part of their everyday life.
Thursday, November 18th - Becoming a Global Communicator Workshop - TSU Bradford - 2:00pm-3:30pm
Students will learn and understand the definition of intercultural communication as a meaning-negotiating process. They will practice some intercultural communication competence techniques such as perception- checking, mindful interviewing, and suspending judgments. The workshop will also provide opportunity for participants to reflect in writing what they observed, experienced and learned. |
