Continuous Enrollment

If you are a graduate student and have finished all the required course work, but need to continue working on your thesis or project, you may be able to continue your enrollment by registering for Graduate Studies 700 (GS 700). You can register for GS 700 through regular registration or Extended Education:

  • GS700 through regular registration – Students pay full fees and receive full student benefits (health center, study activities, etc.).

  • GS700 through Extended Education – Students pay a reduced fee and receive no university benefits other than library privileges. Permission to enroll through Extended Education is monitored through the Graduate Studies office using a request form signed by the department's Graduate Program Adviser and, for international students, an adviser in the International Education and Exchange office. No student will be permitted to enroll in GS700 through Extended Education without this form. Registration materials will be released through the Graduate Studies office. Graduate program advisers will be sent a list of students enrolled in this special GS700.

In order to register through Extended Education you need to:

  1. Pick up the application form for GS 700 at the IEE Office (UH-244) or the Graduate Studies Office (MH-129). You may download it from the Graduate Forms page.
  2. Make an appointment with your academic advisor and get his/her signature on the form.
  3. Make an appointment with an IEE advisor and get his/her signature on the form.
  4. Turn in your application form to the Graduate Studies Office (MH-129).

If your application is approved, you may register for GS 700 through Extended Education.

Guidelines for enrolling in GS 700 through Extended Education

  • Please read carefully all items on the front and back of the blue form "GS 700 Enrollment Request" available from the Graduate Studies Office, MH-103 or the IEE Office, UH-244. You may download it from the Graduate Forms page.

  • International students are required to maintain adequate health insurance coverage while enrolled in GS700. You are eligible to purchase health insurance through our office.

  • Students enrolled through Extended Education do not have access to the Student Health and Counseling Center (SHCC). However, students may purchase a "Titan Health Card" directly from SHCC, which allows them to use the facility.

  • Students enrolled through Extended Education may not enroll for any other courses, including internship/practicum. Therefore, students are not eligible for Curricular Practical Training while enrolled through Extended Education.
