International Understanding Award
This award is funded by the Emil Grieshaber Memorial Fund to recognize personal contributions to increase international understanding through leadership activities on campus with clubs and university sponsored programs. The selection process may include an interview with selection committee. The recipient is recognized at the University Honors Convocation.
2009 Recipient: Sripathmanathan Srikailainathan
Kailai is a graduate student from Sri Lanka, pursuing a master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
He is also one of the 2009 recipients of the President's Associates Outstanding Graduate Student Award.

Professor & Mrs. Ting K. Pan Memorial Scholarships
The Professor & Mrs. Ting K. Pan Memorial Scholarship was established by Emerita Professor Dorothy Pan Wong to assist students who have overcome financial or language challenges, particularly students who are the first in their family to attend college.
This scholarship is open to continuing undergraduate or graduate students majoring in one of the following subjects: math, engineering, nursing, computer science or a physical science. Applicants must also demonstrate a financial need and have a minimum of 3.0 gpa. Recipients will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
2009 Recipient: Catalina Del Real
Catalina is currently in her freshmen year and the first in her family to attend college. She is majoring in Nursing and has already earned |

an impressive 3.77 gpa in her first year. Catalina is actively involved in Camp Titan which organizes summer camps for underprivileged kids. This program is funded by Associated Students Inc. (ASI). Catalina has also actively served as a recruiter for blood drive campaigns and has tutored kids in elementary schools.
2009 Recipient: Hussam Makkiya
Hussam is the second member of his family to attend CSUF. He is currently in his freshmen year, and is majoring in Mechanical Engineering. He has a 3.92 gpa. Hussam was part of the Titan Tusk Force in Fall 2008, where he rooted for his fellow Titans. He is also part of the Middle Eastern Society, where he helped with the Arabic event as well as the Palestinian Wall event. |

World Citizen Award
The International Friendship Council recognizes a graduating
student from Cal State Fullerton who has demonstrated involvement, on and off the campus,
in contributing to international understanding. Although grade point average is a factor, greater
consideration is given to the individual's involvement in the community, both on and off campus.
The Council, believing that world understanding and tolerance begins with individuals, wishes to
recognize a student who exemplifies this vital characteristic.
2009 Recipient: Truc Vo
Truc Vo is an undergraduate student from Vietnam. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. She has been actively volunteering her time and talents at the International Student orientation programs, Cross-Cultural Contacts mentoring program, and at the Student Leadership Institute. She also served as Vice President of Marketing for the CSUF Economincs Association and an active member of the CSUF Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda.

Outstanding International Student Service Award
The Outstanding International Student Service Award was established in 2001 by the Office of International Education & Exchange to recognize the contributions that international students make toward serving the international student community on campus.
Recipients of this award have demonstrated the following:Service to the international student community at Cal State Fullerton, leadership skills, and spirit of volunteerism on or off campus
While volunteerism can be a foreign concept to many international students, some of them, like this year's recipient, embrace the opportunity to help other international students and promote the importance of getting involved on campus. Recipients of this award will receive $200 and will be recognized by having their name inscribed on a perpetual plaque displayed at the International Education & Exchange office.

Priscilla Oaks Emerging Leader's Award
This award was established to encourage and support emerging student leaders who have been involved at Cal State Fullerton and/or in the greater community and promote global understanding.
The recipient of this award received $200 and was recognized at the annual University Leadership Conference, held in March 7, 2009.
2009 Recipient: Rachel L. Kha
Rachel is a senior, majoring in Business Administration, with a 3.55 gpa. She is an active multicultural leader involved in activities on and off campus. She demonstrates her leadership skills in serving as a facilitator at the Asian American Pacific Islander Leadership Institute; developing a youth outreach program for the Teochew Association at UCLA, and studying abroad in South Africa where she wrote a community development plan for the Whilmer tutoring center.

CSUF Alumni Association Outstanding Graduate Student Award
Babanpal Singh graduated in January 2009 with a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. He served as the student president of Phi Beta Delta Honors Society, the Economics Association, and as vice president of campus relations for Business Interclub Council. He has mentored many international students and volunteered at many on-campus conferences. He plans to start a South Asian chapter of the Alumni Association at CSUF. |
