We encourage ALL international students to carefully follow all guidelines and advice regarding travel. Also, please
check the Public Announcements, Travel Warnings and Consular Information Sheets from the
U.S. Department of State.
If you have a VALID (unexpired) F-1 visa in your passport, you need the following documents with you at the port of
entry (upon entering the U.S.):
- valid (unexpired) passport (valid for at least 6 months after your reentry date)
- SEVIS I-20, with a valid travel signature
If you do not have a VALID F-1 visa in your passport, you will need to obtain a new visa from the U.S. Embassy or
Consulate in your home country. An expired visa in your passport DOES NOT mean that you must immediately leave the U.S. and
apply to extend your visa. If your I-94 card indicates "D/S" (Duration of Status) and you have maintained your status, an
expired visa does not jeopardize your stay in the U.S.
