SETTING A COURSE FOR THE FUTURE

At a recent Town Hall style meeting, IT Division staff were asked to dream big. Committed to student success and service excellence, the Division of Information Technology is in the process of creating a strategic plan.

The 10 member committee is co-chaired by Elahe Amani, Director of Student Technology Services, Mike Marcinkevicz, Director of Network Computing and Security, and Berhanu Tadesse, Senior Director of IT Project Management and Operations. The remaining members include individuals selected from departments within IT, a faculty member and a student.

The committee has an intense six month timeframe, and meets for at least two hours each week.  According to Elahe Amani, the committee is on track to deliver the strategic plan on June 1st.

Feedback from the Town Hall meeting was used to develop goals.  Shortly after,  a retreat with consultant John McGuthry, CIO, Cal Poly Pomona was held to refine and focus the strategic planning process.  During the months of April and May, committee members met with various campus constituencies to solicit feedback and ensure that they were on the right track.

Four meetings were held with student groups including, but not limited to:  the ASI Board, Housing, and international students. A concerted effort was made to reach out to all students

The ultimate goal of the process is a strategic plan that maximizes resources, supports and facilitates student success, addresses campus needs, includes best practices and is in alignment with the University Strategic Plan.
