New Student Orientation

What should I bring to orientation?

What should I expect?

New Student Orientation is a full day program (8:00 am - 5:00 pm), which integrates academic requirements, social standards and connection with the CSUF community. You can expect to meet fellow new students, converse with academic advisors, register for classes and learn more about the many benefits of being a Titan.

Can I bring a guest with me?

Students attending New Student Orientation may bring a guest with them to participate in New Parent and Family Orientation at an additional cost. Please note that New Parent and Family Orientation is a program that runs concurrent to New Student Orientation and guests will not spend the day with students. Students attending Transfer Student Orientation may not bring any guests with them.

Is there an orientation program for family members or guests?

There is an orientation program for family members and guests for New Student Orientation.  Transfer Student Orientation, however, does not allow guests during their orientation. The student must register their guests online through their Student Portal. It is $65 for the first guest and $35 for the second guest. Only two guests per student are allowed at orientation.

Is orientation mandatory?

Yes, orientation is mandatory and finalizes your intent to register for classes and attend Cal State Fullerton for the upcoming Fall semester. 

Is there a cost to attend orientation?

It costs $85 per student to attend New Student Orientation, and this must be paid in order to confirm your orientation date.

Do I need to complete anything before orientation?

Please complete the Before Orientation Checklist prior to attending orientation.

Where can I get updates/additional information about orientation?

Outreach, Recruitment & Orientation release all important updates via the students CSUF email address. Students can also contact our office at 657-278-2501 during our regular business hours of 8 am – 7 pm, Monday through Thursday, and 8 am – 5 pm Fridays.

What is the agenda like?

You will receive an agenda including all mandatory sessions when you arrive for your session.

 

Your orientation session would include advising, a chance to connect with new students, current students, faculty and staff, and also register for the upcoming semester. 

I will have to leave early/arrive late for my orientation session. What do I do?

You must register for an orientation session that you are able to attend for the entire duration of the program. Orientation is a mandatory requirement in order to schedule classes and begin as a student for the upcoming Fall semester.

Am I able to get a refund for orientation?

No, all orientation fees are nonrefundable for both students and guests under any circumstances. No exceptions will be made.

Once you register for orientation and select a date, you are responsible for attending on the date you have selected. If you withdraw your admissions from the University prior to attending orientation, or cancel your orientation registration, you are not eligible for a refund. If you are awarded a fee deferral and withdraw from the University, you will be responsible for any outstanding orientation fees that will no longer be covered by financial aid.  If you do not receive enough financial aid to pay your orientation fees you will be responsible to pay the postponed fees. All orientation fees are nonrefundable

Do I need to register to attend orientation?

Yes, you need to register in order to secure a spot for orientation no later than the specified due date under Dates/Deadlines.

Why am I unable to register for orientation?

In order to register for orientation, you must accept offer of attending Cal State Fullerton and pay the required deposit. Once this is done, you will be allowed to register.

What is a Fee Deferral? 

Based on ancitipated financial aid, some students may be eligible for a fee deferral at the time of registration. This means that collection of the student's orientation fee will be postponed until financial aid is awarded. A student with an Expected Family Contribution of "0"  is automatically awarded for the deferral if they meet the criteria. 

What happens if I cancel?
