What you need:

  • A copy of your DD-214 (Not needed if still on active duty)
  • If you have never used your VA benefits before, submit VA Form 22-1990 , Application for VA Education Benefits. Veterans should submit their DD-214 (Member 4 Copy), and Reservists/Guardsmen should submit DD-2384 with their application.
  • If you have previously used your VA benefits, submit VA Form 22-1995 , Request for Change of Program or Place of Training.
  • Include official transcripts from all schools attended after high school

Chapter 32: Veterans Educational Assistance Program (VEAP)

To qualify, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Entered service for the first time between January 1, 1977, and June 30, 1985;
  • Opened a contribution account before April 1, 1987;
  • Voluntarily contributed from $25 to $2700;
  • Completed your first period of service; and
  • Were discharged or released from service under conditions other than dishonorable.
  • If you are currently on active duty and wish to receive VEAP benefits, you must have at least 3 months of contributions available.

What you need:

  • A copy of your DD-214 (Not needed if still on active duty)
  • Certificate of Eligibility from the Department of Veterans Affairs
  • If you have never used your VA benefits before, submit VA Form 22-1990 , Application for VA Education Benefits. Veterans should submit their DD-214 (Member 4 Copy), and Reservists/Guardsmen should submit DD-2384 with their application.
  • If you have previously used your VA benefits, submit VA Form 22-1995 , Request for Change of Program or Place of Training.

  • DD-2384: NOBE (Notice of Benefit Eligibility) (Your unit must issue this form)
