Our Accomplishments
- Ellen Junn, founder and first president of the Asian American and Pacific Islander’s (formerly AFSA), wrote the proposal to establish the first Asian American Studies Minor on campus.
- Over 40 scholarships have been awarded to Asian Pacific Islander students on campus.
- In May 2003, AAPIFSA hosted the first Asian Pacific Islander Graduation Reception.
- Craig Ihara, one of the founding members, established the Asian American Studies Major Program. Ihara served as the founding Program Coordinator.
- In Fall 2003, through a partnership between the African American Staff Association, the Chicano-Latino Faculty and Staff Association and the Dean of Students of Cal State Fullerton, AAPIFSA was awarded a grant by the Vice President of Academic Affairs to develop a Multicultural Mentoring Program on campus.
- In Spring 2007, the first Spotlight Series highlighting the research of various AAPIFSA faculty/staff at CSUF was launched.
