Dr. Ephraim P. Smith, Vice President for Academic Affairs
Dr. Ephraim Smith was selected as Vice President for Academic Affairs
at Cal State Fullerton in June 1998. He is responsible for over
1,500 faculty on a campus serving over 25,000 students. Previously,
he was Dean of the School of Business and Economics at the university.
Before joining Cal State Fullerton, Dr. Smith served as Dean of
the James J. Nance College of Business Administration at Cleveland
State University and also Shippensburg State College. Earlier, he
was a member of the faculty at the University of Rhode Island where
he was Chair of the Accounting Department. Dr. Smith is an accountant
by training and earned his Bachelor's at Providence College, his
Master's at the University of Massachusetts, and his Doctoral degree
in Accounting from the University of Illinois. He has authored five
books and more than 50 journal articles on accounting and management.
He has served as a consultant for universities, government agencies,
and private corporations in several states. Dr. Smith continues
to design academic programs and partnerships with universities in
Taiwan, China, Germany, and Lithuania. He has been instrumental
in instituting off-campus programs and initiating an annual economic
forecast for Orange County.
