Dr. Anil K. Puri
Dr. Anil Puri became interim provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at California State University, Fullerton in July 2016. Prior to this appointment, he served as dean of the Mihaylo College of Business and Economics, the fifth-largest business school in the country; interim associate vice president (AVP) for Academic Programs; and chair of the Economics Department. Throughout his time at Cal State Fullerton, Dr. Puri has been a leader in cross-college and cross-divisional collaboration, internationalization, curricular innovation, and strategic planning.
During Dr. Puri’s tenure as dean, Mihaylo College renewed its AACSB accreditation three times and raised over $60 million in private funding, resulting in a naming endowment (Mihaylo College) and a new building, Steven G. Mihaylo Hall. Also on his watch, the College received national rankings from Business Week, U.S. News and World Report, and the Princeton Review. Dr. Puri taught the first online course on the campus over a decade ago and has led the development of a fully online M.A. in Information Technology and an undergraduate business degree completion program in addition to several other online courses.
In his position as AVP for Academic Programs, Dr. Puri had overall responsibility for the University’s WASC compliance, assessment, advising, freshman programs, and graduate and undergraduate curriculum. Dr. Puri led two key strategic planning taskforces on assessment and advisement to implement the University’s Strategic Plan.
As a scholar, Dr. Puri has published extensively in academic journals and undertaken grant research, and is the director of the Woods Center for Economic Analysis and Forecasting, which hosts a biannual Economic Forecast Conference. He is a frequent public speaker and serves on several boards, including those for Orange County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the US Bank Advisory Board for Orange County and Inland Empire. In his free time, he enjoys golf and traveling.
