The
Part-Time and Lecturer Faculty Orientation Program began in the
fall of 1998 with the mission of providing to part-time and lecturer
faculty a comprehensive overview of important faculty resources
and university policies and precedures ranging from logistical and
facilities information to procedures for managing student-related
situations. Orientation workshops include overviews of professional
and developmental resources available to faculty, including assessment,
electronic tools, and alternative media, and on-going training courses
offered through Employee Training and Development. Coordinating
with other offices on campus--Student Affairs, Disabled Student
Services, Affirmative Action, Human Resources, Diversity & Equity
Programs, and the Faculty Development Center--the office of Academic
Affairs has provided orientation to more than 1000 faculty from
every college and department across campus since its inception during
the 1998-1999 academic year.
