Important Information for New Temporary Faculty
New faculty and faculty returning after 1 (one) year of separation must first visit Payroll Services (College Park, Suite 770) to complete the requisite paperwork and "sign-in" process before beginning to teach courses. The sign-in process includes verification of work authorization status, verification of the Social Security card, and signing of the Loyalty Oath. This must be completed before a prospective employee can begin work.

Verification of Work Authorized Status
Verification of work authorization status is mandated by the 1986 Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) before every prospective employee can begin work. Section 1 of the I-9 form must be complete by the employee no later than the date on which his/her employment begins.
A list of documents acceptable to establish authorization to accept employment in the United States will be provided. Section 2 of the I-9 must be completed by the campus within three business days of the date on which the employment begins. If a prospective employee does not have proper work authorization on the date that he/she is scheduled to begin employment, he/she cannot be hired or begin work.
Verification of Social Security Card
The University has the responsibility to verify each employee's Social Security Number (SSN) upon commencement of employment to accurately record and report SSN's to our pay agent, the State Controller's Office (SCO).

Location of the University
California State University, Fullerton is located at 800 North State College Boulevard. The campus is bounded by State College Boulevard on the west, Yorba Linda Boulevard on the north, the 57 Freeway on the east, and Nutwood Avenue on the south. The main campus operator number is (657) 278-2011.

History of California State University,
Fullerton
The individual California State Colleges were brought together as a system by the Donahoe Higher Education Act of 1960. California State University, Fullerton was established in 1957 as Orange County State College, the 12th state college in California to be authorized by the Legislature. The name changed from Orange County State College to Orange State College in July, 1962, and to California State College Fullerton in July, 1968. In June of 1972, after the system became the California State University, the name was changed to California State University, Fullerton. Today the campus offers bachelor's degrees in 56 undergraduate majors and graduate degrees in 49 programs plus a variety of credential, certificate programs and a professional doctorate.

Organization of Colleges and Departments
The University is governed by its president, Dr. Milton A. Gordon, his administrative staff, and Vice Presidents, each of whom has a particular role to play within the University's governance. The university is organized into 8 colleges—The Arts, Business and Economics, Education, Communications, Engineering and Computer Science, Health and Human Development, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Natural Sciences and Mathematics-each of which is comprised of numerous academic departments.
The Dean serves as the chief executive of each college, with support from an Associate Dean and Department or Division Chairs. The Dean reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
The Chair is responsible for the academic leadership of a department or division. Department or Division Chairs work closely with faculty and staff to ensure the welfare of students, the department, and faculty and staff. The Chair's responsibilities may include the development of the department's curriculum, representation of the department on university committees, the development and administration of a department budget, recruitment of faculty, and the supervision and evaluation of departmental staff.

University Policy Statements
The President is responsible for the establishment of University policy and does so in consultation with the Academic Senate. After a document has been recommended by the Academic Senate and signed by the President, it becomes University policy. Approved documents are University Policy Statements (UPS) or are incorporated into the University Catalog. Faculty Development Center (FDC)
The Faculty Development Center (FDC) supports faculty by promoting faculty development, vitality, and enrichment. The FDC is responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive program of support for all instructional faculty across a broad spectrum of professional activities.
The mission of the FDC is to support faculty in the following areas: (1) enhancing excellence in teaching; (2) understanding and assessing student learning; (3) enhancing technology in teaching; (4) promoting scholarly research and creative activities; (5) enhancing professional and service activities; (6) sponsoring special support programs for special faculty constituencies, including Chair Support Program, New Faculty Orientation, Untenured Faculty Support Program, part-time faculty; and (7) promoting other campus-wide intellectual and community-building events.
