I graduated from Cal Sate Fullerton with a Bachelors of Science
degree in Human Services and a Bachelors of Arts degree in
Chicano Studies. In addition, I also completed my Masters
of Science degree in Counseling with an emphasis on Marriage
Family Child Counseling. It is a great honor to be the coordinator
of the Links Mentoring Program (LMP). The Links Mentors, Maricela
Alvarado is the heart and soul of the mentoring program. This
year our focus is to promote our services to all Cal State
Fullerton students. The Links Mentors are dedicated to assisting
all Cal State Fullerton students to become familiar with the
services, clubs and organizations at CSUF. If you enjoy networking
with students, faculty/staff, building your resume for your
future career and leaving a legacy at Cal State Fullerton,
then the mentoring program is for you.

Hello! I am a senior majoring in Human Services and Sociology. These past three years at CSUF have gone very fast, but I have enjoyed every minute of it (yes, including those late nights of writing papers are memorable). I can attribute my wonderful college experience to my involvement in several organizations and committees throughout campus. I am involved with M.E.Ch.A., Associated Students Inc., Chicano/Latino Faculty and Staff Association and I am a McNair Scholar. After graduation I hope to attend graduate school and study higher education and public policy. I have met great and inspirational people by staying connected to the university, which is what we can help you do as well! |

First of all I have to mention that working for the Links Mentoring Program has been a wonderful experience. I have been working for the program for five months, and enjoy it very much. Currently I am a junior; my majors are Spanish and Chicana/o Studies. I am an E.O.P student and had the opportunity to go through the Summer Bridge program, summer of 2002. My first semester I joined Movimiento Estudiantil Chicana/o de Aztlán (M.E.Ch.A.) an organization on campus whose focus is on Cultural and Political Awareness as well as the promotion of Higher Education to Chicano/Latino high school students. I look forward to working with you and hope that you have a wonderful college experience, as I have.
