Intensive Learning Experience

Overview
Housed within Student Academic Services, the Intensive Learning Experience (ILE)
program is designed not only to monitor the progress of students in fulfilling remedial
compliance requirements, but to also to help students make successful progress in
fulfilling the requirements for graduation via intensive counseling and academic advising.
We advise and inform students on class planning, study skills, transfer work, campus
resources, time management, and campus organizations. Our goal is to give the student
the essential skills to not only survive academically and socially, but to be successful
at CSUF.

If not exempt from the EPT/ELM, every new freshman must pass the
EPT and/or ELM in order to move into the GE-level mathematics and English courses.
If the student does not pass, he/she must take a developmental English and/or math
course in order to fulfill the remedial compliance requirements (for more information
English course placement or Math
Placement Above 550 or Math Placement Other). |
| If you are interested in taking developmental classes during the summer before your
first fall semester at CSUF, please contact the Freshman
Success Program. |
Intensive Learning Experience: ELM/EPT
Entry Level Mathematics Examination (ELM)
 |
The ELM is designed to assess the level at which students are qualified to take a
General Education (GE) math course or a developmental math course (below 100 level course).

Every incoming student must take the ELM, unless otherwise exempt |
English Placement Exam (EPT)
|
|
The EPT is designed to assess the level at which students are qualified to take a
General Education (GE) English course or a developmental English course (below 100 level
course). (More Information On The EPT)

Every incoming student must take the EPT, unless otherwise exempt |
ILE Appointment |
|
Explanation of EPT/ELM results and course placement |
|
Address any needs/concerns of the student |
|
Explanation of compliance |
|
Review in-progress work with current class schedule |
|
Review good academic standing versus probationary academic standing |
|
Review GE requirements |
|
Review a possible schedule for the next semester if time permits |

MISS YOUR FIRST REGISTRATION WINDOW. THE APPOINTMENT IS REQUIRED BEFORE YOU
