How long does it take for a decision to be reached on a petition?
Each petition receives an individual and comprehensive review before a
decision is made.
The amount of time it takes for the review process depends on a variety
of factors that can vary over the course of the year (e.g. the number of
petitions currently in line for review, the complexity of each case, the
need to obtain additional information from the student if the petition was
submitted with incomplete or unclear information, etc).
This review process can take anywhere from several weeks to several
months to be completed. The maximum time for petition review is
approximately six months.
Every effort is made to expedite petitions submitted by students who are
current candidates to graduate.
When a decision is made, the student is mailed a copy of the petition
with the decision indicated in writing.
