CSU Early Start Program - Courses

All CSU Fullerton entering freshmen who are required to complete the Early Start Program (ESP) are highly encouraged to complete their ESP activities through CSU Fullerton if possible.  See why below.

Completing your ESP at Cal State Fullerton

  • Gives you an opportunity to integrate into the campus and will provide you the smoothest transition to your fall semester English and math instruction.
  • Will expedite the time between finishing your course and processing your grades/scores.
  • Affords you the capability of adjusting your fall schedule earlier rather than having to wait for the grade processing from another CSU campus or community college.
  • Provides you the opportunity to not just complete ESP, but also to move up a remediation level, or even to complete your remediation and enter college-level coursework in the fall. Please note that only remediation courses taken at Cal State Fullerton are guaranteed to be accepted for remediation at Cal State Fullerton.
  • CSU Fullerton registration for the Early Start Program courses begins on May 18th.

Cost and Waivers

Course Cost: $182.00/semester unit. Campus-based fees may also apply.

Early Start fee waivers will be available for those demonstrating need. California residents who apply for financial aid and have an Estimated Family Contribution of $5,000 or less will be eligible for a waiver. The waiver will cover the full cost of any ESP course.

For detailed information about the Early Start Program Fees, please visit the following site: http://sfs.fullerton.edu/FeeInformation/Summer%202012%20--%20%20Early%20Start%20Program.pdf

What CSU Fullerton Offers

CSU Fullerton offers several courses that will not only meet your Early Start Program requirement, but also complete your remediation requirement.  These 3-unit courses offer you the option of completing a full semester of remedial coursework; thus, enabling you to move up a level or complete remediation and enter college-level coursework in the fall. If you are unable to complete a 3-unit summer course, CSU Fullerton offers a 1-unit intensive week long learning experience that will fulfill the Early Start requirement (but does not complete your remediation requirement).
