Saturday, May 3, 2008: The Vision & Visionaries award is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon CSUF alumni and is awarded based on significant contributions to the community, state or nation. Five distinguished alumni and one Corporate Foundation Honoree will receive the 2008 award during the annual event to be held at the Disneyland Hotel Grand Ballroom.

Rock legend Stevie Nicks mesmerized a sold-out audience of nearly 11,000 students, alumni and community friends at the Honda Center in Anaheim, during Cal State Fullerton’s 50th Anniversary Front & Center on Saturday, February 2.

Alumni Association Scholarship Application Deadline February 22

Every year the association selects two currently enrolled CSUF students who show merit to CSUF and demonstrate outstanding volunteer service. Each student receives a $3,000 award. Proceeds from the Jerry Goodwin Alumni Association Golf Tournament as well as individual alumni contributions help support this program.

08-09 State Budget Update

Governor Schwarzenegger released the 2008-09 budget on January 10. Faced with a growing $14.5 billion state budget deficit, the Governor has proposed a $312.9 million cut to the CSU budget approved by the board of trustees for the 2008-09 fiscal year. In addition, the $73.2 million in General Fund revenue that is needed to buy out a student fee increase was not included in the Governor’s proposed budget. If the proposed budget is approved, the CSU budget will fall short of full compact funding by $386 million. Read full story.

A research project through CSU Fullerton Center for the Promotion of Healthy Lifestyles' Nutrition Study is recruiting 300 women 21 to 69 years old to participate in a free online program. Study requires completion of three nutrition questionnaires that are filled out online.
