One for the Money

One for the MoneyThe English Languages and Literatures Alumni Chapter hit the big screen on Saturday, January 11 to watch “One for the Money”; the movie based off of best-selling author Janet Evanovich’s first Stephanie Plum novel, followed by dinner at Rutabbegorz in Downtown Fullerton.  In the spirit of philanthropy, participants brought canned goods to donate to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County.

Chapter member Donna Middleton ’03, M.A. ’10 commented, “This was a fun movie.  I’m glad we were able to get together like this and collect food for those who need it.  I enjoyed the novel and am willing to read more in the series.”  The chapter will continue the discussion of the book and movie at its next book club meeting.

Chapter Bowl 2012

The English Languages and Literatures Alumni Chapter held its first event of 2012 by gathering for an evening of bowling. For every strike and spare bowled, the chapter donated $1 towards the English Department’s scholarship fund with a total of $26 raised. Member Tom Beeman, M.A. '08 commented, "It was a blast and I’m glad we were able to raise funds for our fellow Titans! Maybe next time I'll bowl a few more strikes."

New Years EveThe English Languages and Literatures Chapter rang in the new year with a New Year’s Eve, Eve Dinner and Children’s Book Drive on December 30. Everyone dined at The Old Spaghetti Factory in Downtown Fullerton and they collected 22 books to donate to children at American Family Housing (a homeless shelter in Midway City, California) and to the CSUF Children’s Center on campus. Member Julie Tran ’11 expressed appreciation by saying, “I am a new grad and this was a very nice first event as an alumnus. Thank you for organizing it and I look forward to more events in 2012!” View Photos.
