Mr. Baranger handles strategic planning for many of the foreign bureaus, including Baghdad and Kabul. His other duties include negotiating wire service and satellite communication contracts and planning technical aspects of special events and war coverage. He is also The Times representative to the International Press Telecommunication Council (IPTC). Among his many accomplishments are the introduction of portable satellite terminals to reporters and photographers in 1991, and his work with IPTC to help make digital photography practical for newspapers.

Our evening reception also will feature special guest Dr. Anthony Fellow.
