Titans Compete in the Big Dance for the First Time in 30 years

The Men's Titan Basketball Team traveled to Omaha to take on the Wisconsin badgers in NCAA Tournament play on Thursday, March 20. Of the numerous Titan alumni, fans and friends who traveled to Omaha to support the team, over 80 attendees gathered for a pre-game reception at inPlay restaurant. The Cal State Fullerton Alumni Association hosted appetizers and soft drinks while the Titan Pep Band played to rally the crowd for the upcoming game. Armed with rally towels and full of Titan spirit, the fans journeyed on to the Qwest Center for the game.

Locally, the Titan Student Union held an on-campus game watch for fans. Approximately 200 faculty, staff and students cheered on the Titans as they enjoyed pizza and celebratory cakes with team photos and orange and blue icing. Alumni-owned and operated Brian's BBQ, an official Titan Athletics corporate sponsor, packed their location with a game watch event for Titan fans. The Cal State Fullerton Alumni Association sponsored tally towels for both local game watches.

All Cal State Fullerton supporters were glued to the game as they rooted for the underdog Titans. Playing a historic game for the university, the Titans got off to a strong lead. In the end, the No. 3-seeded Badgers (30-4) dominated the No. 14-seeded Titans (24-9) with a 71-56 victory.

Although the team did not win this time, they have paved the way for the future and proven that the Titans are a team to watch. Congratulations to our Big West Champions and NCAA Tournament players!
