Titans Take Manhattan

Manhattan was once again the scene for CSUF Titans during Spring Break 2012, April 3-5.  Senior students from the Department of Theatre and Dance showcased their best work in front of a record breaking attendance of talent agents and alumni. Dinner for faculty, student performers and alumni followed.
A special invitation to watch the Paul Taylor Dance Company at the Lincoln Center was provided by the company’s Director of Public Relations, Lisa Labrado ’92. "It was an honor hosting President Hagan, distinguished CSUF NYC-based alums and staff at the Lincoln Center and introducing them to Paul Taylor's genius work and Company. I was fortunate to hone my PR chops at CSUF through hands-on programs like Comm Week and under the guidance of mentors Dr. Fellow and Dr. Pullen. It was quite a thrill bringing my two worlds together -- the best of both!"
Alumni visits were also part of the three-day visit including a backstage chat with Linda Emond ‘82, fellow Titan, currently performing in Death of a Salesman.  Dianne C. Ramos ’06, CSUF President’s Scholar and President’s Associate, raved about the event, “This was my first time attending a CSUF Alumni event in New York and already, I cannot wait for the next event! It is so wonderful to see how talented our students are - and what a great opportunity to showcase those talents on Broadway in New York. As was the case with me, Cal State Fullerton is definitely making dreams come true.

It was such a refreshing taste of home - the staff, the faculty, the students and most especially, the alumni from New York - I felt like I was back in Orange County for just a bit! My fellow alumni amazed me with the wonderful stories of their adventures, endeavors, and business and entrepreneurial spirits. I didn't realize just how far CSUF's reach extended and I am so thrilled to have met others in the area with whom I can now build personal and professional relationships. It is a testimony to the kind of world citizens that CSUF helps build, and I count myself truly blessed to be a product and a part of that community.”

The events were a great success, proving the value of our Titan Community. We look forward to meeting again in the Big Apple next year!

Cal State Fullerton truly has one of the best Performing Arts departments ever!” Another SchoolsFirst chapter member Jamie Deno ’00 said “The concert was wonderful! It was a great time to catch up with fellow alumni that I don’t get a chance to talk to at work very often. The alumni staff took great care of us, making sure we had enough to eat and drink. Of course, the performances were the highlight of the evening and each of the alumni performers showed why they were invited back. The CSUF dancers and singers were amazing, performing one number after another. The tributes to famous Broadway and Hollywood songs showed the versatility and talent of this group. For me, the show stealer was Erin McNally and her performance of Good Eats."
