To celebrate the accomplishments of the 2008 senior class at Cal State Fullerton, the Alumni Association held an inaugural Senior BBQ at the Golleher Alumni House on Thursday, April 24. Nearly 450 graduating seniors joined the festivities while enjoying free food, fun prizes and information about alumni resources post graduation. All in attendance were given a special alumni key chain and an opportunity to win an IPod Nano.
Seniors Amy Covert and Christine Kha thought that the event was a great way to bring seniors together and learn about all of the benefits that the Association provides to alumni after leaving Cal State Fullerton. Many students were just excited to get a free lunch and ice cream sandwiches in between their final semester classes.
As part of an ongoing effort to educate students about the Alumni Association, the Senior BBQ was planned to give upcoming graduates the opportunity to visit the Golleher Alumni House, learn about the events and programs the Association offers and give them a taste of the benefits and partnerships available to Titan alumni. Representatives and information was also provided for Career Center services, discounted health and medical insurance, senior portrait photos, class rings and Association Membership.
“It was a great event,” said Verne Wagner, Vice President of Programs for the Alumni Association. “Students really enjoyed themselves and some stayed the entire day. It was the perfect opportunity to congratulate them on their accomplishments and show them what the Alumni Association has to offer.”
The event was sponsored in part by GEICO insurance, a partner of the Alumni Association.
