26th Annual Fishing Derby

The chapter hosted its 26th annual Fishing Derby in April at Lake Dixon in Escondido. Over 30 fishermen participated and monies were raised for the chapter’s scholarship fund.

30th Annual Western World Series

In May, the chapter hosted its 30th Annual Western World Series with 16 Sigma Pi alumni and undergraduate teams, which played a double-elimination softball tournament. This event helps to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis. The chapter made a donation to the Orange County chapter, making its 20th consecutive year of supporting MS.

15th Annual Scholarship Golf Classic

Sigma Pi’s final spring event was its 15th Annual Scholarship Golf Classic. This year the tournament was held at Sierra Lakes Country Club, a course owned and managed by Donovan Bros. Golf, who are local fraternity brothers. During the Golf Classic, the chapter was able to increase its membership with 22 new members, a record for new membership at a single event within the University's chapter program.

Scholarship Fund

We were also able to add an additional $5,000 to our scholarship fund. Plans are already being made for next year’s event which will be coordinated with our international, biennial Convocation in Long Beach.
