Vintage57

Saturday, August 24 marked another successful year for Vintage57—A Premiere Wine & Food Tasting Experience, organized and facilitated by the Cal State Fullerton Alumni Association at the Golleher Alumni House. The night was filled with wine and food pairings from across the globe and camaraderie amongst alumni, family and friends, both old and new, gathering to raise money for student scholarships.

Executive Director, Dianna Lopez Fisher and CSUF President Dr. Mildred García helped to commence the event by giving the official Titan toast and event release, prompting more than 135 attendees to enjoy the culinary treasures of India, the United Kingdom, America, Spain, Italy, Vietnam and the Mediterranean.

For each exquisite cuisine, wines were paired by Vintage57‘s fourth year veteran and esteemed sommelier, Diane De Luca. When asked what her favorite aspect of the festive event was, Diane spoke with passion to the importance of the element of the specific in food and wine pairing. “This is my fourth year participating in the event. My favorite part about Vintage57 is how specific the food and wine pairings are. The producers of the wine at the event today are huge supporters of Vintage57. I think that it is amazing to be able to introduce more international wines to the attendees. For example, South America is represented here by wines from Chile and Argentina. These international wines give attendees the opportunity to taste specific styles of wine with specific types of food from around the world.” – Diane De Luca

Vintage57 pic2For many who attend, Vintage57 is an event that simply cannot be missed. Each year there are many new faces as well as there are some who have been attending since its inception, only to return each year holding onto the promise of embarking upon past Vintage57 cuisine favorites and exciting new and unexplored territories, “I love this event! This is my fourth year coming and I look forward to it every year—it’s an annual event for my loved ones. It’s already on my calendar for next year,” said Kenate Bushman. Rightfully, the most popular aspects of the night are the food and wine according to many attendees, including one CSUF alumna, “I love Vintage57. The wine selections are different every year and I love the food pairings that complement the wines. Also, the staff is extremely nice and helpful.” —Emi Nguyen ‘05

The positive cause associated with Vintage57 is just as good as the food and wine selections; Revenue raised from the auction supports the Alumni Association student scholarship program. Auction items included: golf equipment, dance lessons, exquisite jewelry, premium wines, health & beauty product baskets, professional sporting event tickets and an array of other exciting items that attendees bid on.

Vintage57 pic3The extraordinary wines of the night were poured thanks to generous donations from Antelope Valley Winery & Donato Family Vineyard, Pozzuoli Vineyard & Winery, Nichelini Family Winery, Pear Valley Vineyards and Total Wine & More. Stellar catering was provided by the generosity of PattyCakes, Country Garden Caterers, Parties by Panache, Melrose Catering, The Olde Ship British Pub & Restaurant and Phans55 Vietnamese Bistro & Bar. Also, a host of event sponsors helped to make the night a success including: Create-A-Party Rentals, Cash Advance Fullerton, Perricone Juices, Studio94 Photography and many other amazing sponsors.

Yet again, the Cal State Fullerton Alumni Association celebrates another successful Vintage57 in anticipation of another productive and eventful program year with many more successes to come!
