What is Titanium?
Titanium is name we have given to our implementation of Moodle. The campus is in the process of transitioning from the Blackboard system to Moodle. Moodle is an open-source Learning Management System (LMS) or a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). It has become very popular among educators around the world as a tool for creating online dynamic web sites for their students. More info about the Moodle product is available at http://moodle.org.
What is happening to Blackboard?
On June 15th, 2012 our license for Blackboard will expire and Blackboard will not be available to any campus users. All client data needs to be moved off Blackboard before the deadline. This includes courses and communities.
How many clients have already switched to Titanium?
As of Fall 2011, many clients have already made the switch to Titanium:
- 524 unique faculty used Titanium for at least one course.
- 892 courses used Titanium.
- 20338 students were enrolled in at least one Titanium course.
These numbers are promising, and we expect Spring 2012 participation levels to be much higher.
Can I wait until Summer 2012 to move my Blackboard data into Titanium?
As long as all your data is moved before June 15th, you can wait until the summer. However, if you are teaching in Spring 2012, we encourage you to start working with Titanium this Spring. Blackboard will not be available for Summer 2012 courses.
Can I wait until Fall 2012 to move my Blackboard data into Titanium?
No. Your data needs to be moved before June 15th, 2012. You will not be able to access your Blackboard data on or after June 15th, 2012.
Can I request assistance transferring my content from Blackboard to Titanium?
Yes, to request IT to assist with the migration of your course information, click here* and complete the requested information.
Will you transfer my quizzes?
If IT Assisted migration is requested, quizzes can be transferred. You must indicate your request for each course to be transferred on the transfer request form*. Please note, transferring quizzes will increase the turnaround time for your course availability in Titanium.
Can I avoid the migration process?
If you'd rather pack light, leave your old furniture behind, and start fresh in a new town, go for it. The switch to Titanium can be a good time to re-build your courses from scratch or to pick and choose what data to bring over from Blackboard. Be aware that IT cannot guarantee your course content can be migrated beyond Spring 2012, if you change your mind.

A Titanium tab is available on the campus portal.
Where can I get Titanium training?
Please contact the Faculty Development Center for Moodle workshops and regular training sessions. A detailed training Tutorial is also available from Lynda.com:
- Click the lynda.com tab in your campus portal.
- Click the "Login to: lynda.com" button.
- Log in with your campus username and password.
- In the "what would you like to learn" search box, enter "Moodle 2 Training for Teachers" and click "Search".
- Select the course "Moodle 2 Essential Training for Teachers".
How soon do my courses appear in Titanium?
Titanium courses will be populated 24 hours after they appear on TitanOnline.
What about Blackboard Communities?
Blackboard Communities will not be available as of June 15th, 2012. Titanium Communities is now available through the Titanium tab in the portal.
How do I transition my Blackboard Communities in Titanium Communities?
Many Blackboard communities have become disorganize and collected outdated material over the years. If you lead a community in Blackboard this can be a good time to clean it up by building a new one from scratch. For assistance with this process, email email@example.com.
What version of Moodle are we using?
Currently Moodle 2.1.2 is in production.
