Do
Elementary Teachers Teach?
The standards, which identify what is to be taught at each grade
level, are published as the Student
Academic Content Standards.
Elementary teachers also teach physical education. While there
are not presently an approved set of Student Academic Content Standards
for physical education, the subject matter content teachers should
possess can be found by reading the Physical
Education Framework.
Although elementary teachers do not teach their students about
child growth and development, each teacher must have a solid working
knowledge of this subject area.
