Subject:  New Titan Online and Student Portal Profile Update

New Titan Online

On March 10th, the campus will be launching a New Titan Online as part of the implementation of PeopleSoft, CSUF's new Student Information System.  The New Titan Online will not immediately replace the existing Titan Online which you will still access for some functions such as Summer 2008 registration.  When the existing Titan Online is no longer available, you will be notified in advance.

The New Titan Online will gradually replace existing Titan Online features as well as provide additional self service features.  The first existing features to transition to the New Titan Online are your admission status and financial aid information for the 2008/2009 award year.  The first new feature will provide you the ability to view and update your emergency contact information.  More information regarding the launch of the New Titan Online will be provided to you over the next few weeks.

Due to enhanced features of the New Titan Online, the campus will require you to begin using a stronger password for your campus portal login. In order to enable the use of strong passwords, you will be asked to update your campus portal profile beginning on February 20th.

Student Portal Profile Update

Beginning on February 20th, when logging into the portal, you will be prompted with an option to update your campus portal profile. This update will consist of the following four items:  creation of a new username (required if you have not already created one), creation of a new password (required), selection of three security questions and answers (required), and an option to update your cell phone information (optional).   Note that the username you select will also become the first part of your email address.

You can bypass these updates by selecting the “No Thanks, I’ll do this later” option until March 4th. On March 5th the portal will require that you update this information.

Once you create your personalized username and password, you will no longer be able to login to the campus portal with your CWID and PIN.  You will need to login with your new personalized username and password.

What are the username and password requirements?
When creating the username and password, the username must be between 3-20 characters in length and may consist of letters, numbers and special characters.
Passwords must be between 8 and 14 characters in length and contain at least 3 of the following character types (lower case letter, upper case letter, special character, and numbers) in accordance with the campus password security policy.

Am I able to change my username and password at any time?
Passwords can be changed at any time.  However, usernames may only be changed during the initial profile update.

What are the requirements for the three security questions?
You will be required to select and answer 3 personalized security questions.  The answers to the security questions you select will become very important in the event you forget your password.

How will my cell phone number be used if I update it?
Beginning Fall 2008, in the event of a campus emergency, text messages will be sent to the cell phone number listed on your portal profile.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.  If you have any questions or encounter any issues during this process, please contact the Help Desk at 714/278-7777 or helpdesk@fullerton.edu.

How will my cell phone number be used if I update it?
Beginning with Fall 2008, in the event of a campus emergency, text messages will be sent to the cell phone number listed on your portal profile.

Why must I make these changes now?
As services for students are transitioned from the legacy mainframe systems into the new PeopleSoft systems, there is a need for tighter access controls and stronger passwords. This change will also bring the student passwords into line with the university security policy (Directive 11).
Additionally to accommodate for these password changes CSUF is following an industry standard approach in providing three question and answer scenarios in the event your password is forgotten.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.  If you have any questions or encounter any issues during this process, please contact the Help Desk at 714/278-7777 or helpdesk@fullerton.edu.
