The University Ceremony is the first of two Commencement ceremonies.
The University Ceremony at 8 a.m. features addresses from a distinguished keynote speaker, CSUF President Dr. Mildred García and other dignitaries. The College/Program Ceremonies begin at approximately 9:30 a.m. and students are called up individually to receive certificates and shake hands with the department chair.
Time: 8 a.m.
Location: Intramural Field (north of the Titan Gymnasium)
Format: Addresses from a distinguished keynote speaker, CSUF President Dr. Mildred García and other dignitaries. This ceremony will begin with a formal processional of all graduates and end with a recessional.
Tickets: No tickets required for the University Ceremony.
Commencement, by its very nature, is a festive occasion. The ceremony is also marked by dignity and seriousness where the conferring of degrees signifies long, hard work on the part of everyone involved: students, faculty, administrators and families. Students and guests are expected to maintain a measure of decorum consistent with the occasion.
- Students must wear appropriate academic regalia (See Supplies)
- Items that detract from the ceremonies are prohibited. (Bull horns, large signs, beach balls, etc.)
- All electronic devices should be silenced during the ceremonies.
- Students and guests must remain seated until the ceremony concludes.
Commencement Schedule of Events
||Students arrive on campus and proceed to Track located north of the gym to line up for Processional and receive instructions.

||(Immediately following University Commencement) Proceed to site for College/Department Ceremonies
|9:30 - 11 a.m.
