"From Hula Hoops to iPods: A Celebration of 50 Years of Popular Music"
Concert Under the Stars 2007 is the kick-off event for our year-long celebration of Cal State Fullerton’s milestone anniversary—providing 50 years of teaching, research and public service to California, the nation and the world. This year’s show is headlined by music alumnus and international opera star, Rod Gilfry!
Featuring Cal State Fullerton’s talented musical theatre students, The Preeminents, the show “From Hula Hoops to iPods” is a blast from the past to the present highlighting five decades of popular music. These are the songs you danced to in high school or college, sang at the top of your lungs in the shower or perhaps whisk you back to your first kiss. Among the popular titles to be performed are: Jailhouse Rock, Good Golly Miss Molly, R-E-S-P-E-C-T, The Hustle, Thriller and From a Distance, to name but a few.
In addition to Mr. Gilfry and the Preeminents, the evening will feature performances by the University Jazz Ensemble, Vice President Pamela Hillman,
and Theatre and Dance alumni Brooke Aston, Landon Beard, Rafael Duran, Jennifer Hubilla and Erin McNally.
Fireworks
A fireworks spectacular concludes the evening.
