How to avoid getting an "F" on an "A" paper.............

  • You and your roommate share her computer to do academic work.  Because you are both enrolled in the same Philosophy course, you both will be using the computer to write your take-home midterms.  The midterm requires you to write 5-page essays on two of three assigned topics.
    • What concerns do you have about ensuring the integrity of your own work?
    • What concerns would you have if the course had an enrollment of 250 and you were using the Pollak Library computer lab to write your essays?

  • You are in the middle of an in-class examination.  You notice another student has a page of notes positioned between his feet.
    • What do you do?

  • You become aware that the student seated to your left during an exam is looking onto your answer sheet.

    • What should you do?

    • What if that student is your friend?

  • You and a friend are lab partners in a Chemistry class.  You each must submit a written lab report at the next class period.  Since you are using mutually collected data, you decide to divide the questions and each answer part of them, then share the information you developed.
    • Why do you think this may be a problem?

  • You have completed the written report for the Chemistry experiment above.  The evening before it is due, your friend asks if he can borrow your report so that he can use the format as a model.
    • Is there any problem with this?
