Tips

Below are some tips for you to consider when making the decision to Get Involved at Cal State Fullerton!

Tip One: Choose opportunities that interest you [top]
Choose activities that appeal to you. Start by asking yourself the following questions:
  • Do I want to get involved in an activity to meet new friends, to socialize?
  • Do I want to get involved in an activity connected with my major or career interests?
  • Do I want to get involved in an activity to explore an area or topic of interest?
  • Do I want to get involved in an activity to be physically active?
  • What kind of skills do I want to develop?
  • Do I want to assume a leadership position?
  • How much time do I want to commit?
Tip Two: Explore Opportunities [top]
Be open to experiences. Attend activities and events. Talk to others involved in activities you may be interested in joining to help you make decisions about what you want to get involved with.
Tip Three: Balance [top]
Be sure to balance your out-of-classroom and classroom experiences. You will gain many benefits from your curricular involvement; however, we don't want you to neglect your academics or health by getting overcommitted due to your involvement. Think about the time and commitment level you want or can devote to an activity or experience. Many opportunities have different levels of involvement. Be sure to ask what these may be for an organization or a position. This can help you decide what you may be able to commit too.
Tip Four: Utilize On-Campus Resources [top]
There are many resources on-campus that can help you explore ways to get involved on campus. You may want to start by visiting the Dean of Students Office, located in Titan Student Union, Room 235.
