Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated is the first Latina Sorority in the nation, founded in December 1975 and since grown to over 125 chapters nationwide. The purpose of Lambda Theta Alpha shall be to provide a sisterhood based on Unity, Love, & Respect. To develop strong Leaders who will then provide and practice political, social and cultural activities. To promote Latino Unity through charitable and educational programs. To maintain a high standard of learning and serve as a voice for all Latino students. Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated is not an exclusionary organization and is made up of 109 different cultures and nationalities. Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc, Gamma Lambda Chapter was established at California State University, Fullerton in 2002 by six founding members. Their names are Andrea Simental, Nancy Garcia, Elizabeth Barrios, Hilda Mendoza-Landin, Maricela Alvarado, and Sharon DeMarco. Lambda Theta Alpha became the first Latina based sorority at California State University, Fullerton.
