23rd Annual Pan-African Student Recognition Ceremony

Kwanzaa Principle: Kujichagulia • Self Determination

The Pan-African Student Recognition Ceremony is an annual celebration that honors our Pan-African graduates for their achievements.

Below are the details for this event:

  • The event is free of charge. Light reception to follow ceremony.
  • Students who participate will receive a kente sash, a commemorative booklet containing short biographical statements of the graduate candidates, and a participation certificate.

  • Students are invited to submit biographical statements for the commemorative booklet.  Please review the PASRC Student Invitation Packet for instructions and examples.  Biographical statements can be submitted when students RSVP for the event at this link:  TBD

    BIOGRAPHIES DEADLINE: Friday, April 22, 2011.
  • Students, family, and friends can also purchase advertisements for the commemorative booklet.  Please review the PASRC Student Invitation PacketPASRC Student Invitation Packet for details including sizes and prices. 
    DEADLINE FOR ADS AND PAYMENT: Wednesday, April 20, 2011.

  • A traditional graduate group picture in your regalia is also taken for the commemorative booklet. The group picture will be taken in front of the Titan Shops on Friday, April 22. Please arrive no later than 12:00pm.
  • In keeping with the ceremonial nature of this event, academic regalia (cap and gown) is required for all graduates.
  • Students are also invited to appear in a group picture in their regalia for the commemorative booklet.  The group picture will be taken in front of the Titan Shops on TBD.  Please arrive no later than TBD
  • Students should arrive at the Student Health and Counseling Center building by 11:00am on Saturday, May 14 to prepare for the processional.

  • Parking will be available free of charge in Lot E, the Nutwood and State College Parking Structures.
  • This event is sponsored by the African American Faculty and Staff Association, Afro-Ethnic Studies Department, African American Resource Center, Administration and Finance, Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and the Multicultural Leadership Center.
