What SLI Means to Me: I admire the idea of challenging one’s self and saw the Student Leadership Institute as an avenue to continue my commitment to personal growth. Because I witnessed success and better readiness of Student Leadership Institute alumni for the great endeavors they pursued, I knew that the program was something I wanted to be a part of. The biggest highlight has been meeting individuals that I wouldn’t have known otherwise. It’s a great feeling to be surrounded by people who share a sense of passion, a drive to do something, and who want to learn along the way. I’ve been fortunate enough to have mentors in my life who believed in me and showed me that I am capable of achieving my own successes. I want to be that kind of person for others — to challenge and cultivate inquisitive minds. Now, as part of the coordinating committee, I’ll have the opportunity to constantly tap into students’ potential, encourage them, and provide the knowledge and tools they’ll need to be successful leaders.
Hobbies/ Interests: An individual passionate about leadership studies, service, and her heritage, Ramos has been involved with her community since 2002. Since high school, Ramos has instructed several outreach and leadership workshops in the greater San Diego area including local universities. Most recently in college, she served the last two years as the first chairperson of the Southern California Pilipino American Student Alliance which encompasses 20+ colleges and universities across the region. She coordinated their first ever collegiate based regional conference and is now a planning consultant for the annual event. She has traveled from Hawaii to Maryland dialoging about history, social justice, and student life of Filipino-Americans and issues facing the greater Asian Pacific American community. At CSUF she is a founding member of reestablishing a chapter of Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity and the volunteer service coordinator for After School Education and Safety (a program of the Center for Internships & Community Engagement). Also, Ramos is an undergraduate fellow for the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators with plans to pursue a career in higher education or corporate training and development.

What SLI Means to Me: SLI is a great resource for students with curiosity--the curiosity to learn something new, meet people, get involved on campus, gain resume builders, and to grow personally.  Curiosity is the driving force that makes people come out of their shells and see how much more there is out in the world that they have never seen before.  SLI encourages this with workshops available to all students, free of charge.  As Alice said, "Curiouser and curioser!"  The more you learn, the more you want to learn.
Hobbies/Interests: art, anime, and studying Japanese

What SLI Means to Me:: SLI provides a good opportunity for students to sharpen their competitive skills before going into their profession. It helps me build up my leadership skills through workshops, networking, and discussions. Not only do I have great resources to learn about leadership, but I also have the chance to put my new leadership skills in practice and to serve as the marketing coordinator for SLI.
Hobbies/Interests: I love traveling around the world and understand different cultures. My future destination will be South America. I also like food tasting and cooking.

What SLI Means to Me: I have been fortunate enough to be involved in the Student Leadership Institute for the last couple of years, and each semester has brought new experiences and new opportunities for learning. SLI provides training and knowledge that are not often covered in the typical classroom, but are nonetheless crucial to future success. SLI doesn't try to make an aspiring student leader fit an ideal mold, but rather allows the student to discover their own potential and determine the kind of leader they wish to become. It is my hope and goal this year to inform every student in CSUF about SLI program and all its benefits. Being involved in SLI as both a participant and a member of the Coordinating Committee has taught me a lot about the nature and responsibilities of leadership, and I know I'll leave university a better and more capable person because of this experience.

What SLI Means to Me: Student Leadership Institute (SLI) is one of the most rewarding leadership opportunities I have ever pursued. As a new-coming freshman here at CSUF, I was interested in getting involved in leadership roles around campus, and after taking a few workshops within SLI, I developed a better understanding of the dynamics of working in different teams to achieve a certain goal. I also learned how to effectively manage time, and how to effectively balance out school, work, and time with friends & family. SLI has also helped me take a giant step in determining my strengths and weaknesses as a leader. As a member of the SLI Coordinating Committee, I now have the opportunity to utilize my strengths as a leader, and make my best effort to avoid any weaknesses of mine. I hope that everyone at Cal State Fullerton recognizes the benefits of SLI, and joins. It is not only an impressive resume builder for any career, it is also a great chance to meet new friends, network with other student leaders around campus, and gain FREE leadership training not taught in any college classrooms.

Hobbies/Interests: Playing Basketball, Swimming, Running, Reading, Writing, Road Trips, the Beach, and spending time with friends.

What SLI Means to Me: SLI represents a chance for people to grow and develop their leadership skills. Through SLI the workshops are free, but businesses would charge hundreds of dollars to go to workshops like these. These skills are transferable and can be used at school, work, or in our various clubs and organizations. SLI is a place to network with others, learn more about oneself as well as those around you, and develop skills that can used in future jobs. The workshops cover a variety of topics, and everyone can take something from them. Workshops like those presented by EMBRACE challenge common beliefs, and offer a chance for personal growth.

Hobbies/Interests: reading novels, playing on the computer, hanging out with friends and family, watching dance and theater performances, and going to the beach

Position: Presentation Coordinator

What SLI Means to Me:To me SLI means growth and awareness. Through the workshops you’re encouraged to analyze yourself and become a better person upon completion. This program helps you open your eyes to become more informed about the world and people outside of yourself.

Hobbies/Interests:Beach, Improvisation, football, mixing, riding, working out, hanging out, world/religious studies.
