Leadership through Social Justice ActivismThe Leadership through Social Justice Activism track is a partnership between SLI and the Volunteer and Service Center. This track provides participants with introductory level knowledge of the values and practices of the kind of grassroots activism that seeks to effect positive change in areas of Social Justice such as human rights, environmentalism, animal rights, and equal access to education, to name a few. The workshops in this track will introduce students to the idea of Social Justice and give them some tools and skills for becoming more effective agents of change in their community. This track mirrors the overall philosophy of the Student Leadership Institute in helping students to understand how positive social change can occur through groups of people working together towards a common goal and not necessarily through traditional top-down models of leadership. Participants in this track are especially encouraged to attend the Social Justice Summit to complete their Elective workshop requirement. Students completing the track will receive a certificate of completion and will be recognized at the SLI Annual Recognition Ceremony. OBJECTIVES:
