Graduate Program and Course List
The Master of Science (MS) degree in Civil Engineering is intended to meet the needs of students who wish to prepare for careers and expertise in areas such as construction and project management, design and analysis of complex systems (including structures such as tall buildings and bridges), environmental engineering, consulting, and research. The program also provides excellent preparation for doctoral studies.
The department offers MS programs in the following areas:
- Structural Engineering
- Environmental Engineering
- Construction Engineering and Management
- Geotechnical Engineering *
- Hydraulics/Hydrology *
- Engineering Mechanics *
The MS degree program is a 30 unit program. Students who do not have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering need to complete a few deficiency courses before they can graduate.

*Based on the enrollment trends, the department is currently focusing its graduate program ONLY on Structural Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Construction Engineering and Management. The Graduate program in Geotechnical/Hydraulics/Engineering Mechanics will be considered in future based on enrollment demand. |
