About: The Office of Financial Aid has updated its scholarship listing for 2011 - 2012. Check out our WEBSITE for more than 300 OPPORTUNITIES. Scholarships and awards are available for applicants based on your major or special interests.

Application & Criteria: Most require the university application but some require a special form or supplemental materials.

THE MARGARET MCNAMARA MEMORIAL FUND (MMMF)

Here’s a grant opportunity for women students from developing countries who are currently studying in the United States or Canada.  The MMMF awards grants of $12,000-$15,000 which must be used during the 2012-2013 academic year.  The MMMF is an affiliate of the World Bank Family Network (WBFN) and here’s a link to more info: http://www.mmmf-grants.org/grants-us.html  The deadline for the application is Tuesday January 17, 2012 at 4 pm.

The Naval Research Enterprise Internship Program (NREIP) is a ten week summer research opportunity for undergraduate Sophomores, Juniors & Seniors, and Graduate students, under the guidance of a mentor, at a participating Navy Laboratory. The stipend amounts for the program are $5,250.00 for Sophomores, $7,880.00 for Junior and Senior undergraduate students and $10,500.00 for graduate students. U.S. citizenship required; Permanent residents accepted at certain labs.

The online application is now open at https://nreip.asee.org/ and must be completed by January 6, 2012.  All accompanying documents (official transcripts and reference letters) are due by January 6, 2012.

Recommendations and Applications are solicited for the

Spring 2012 Western Digital/ECS Scholarships for Outstanding Seniors

Through the generosity of the employees of Western Digital and the Western Digital Foundation, ECS is pleased to make available three (3) $2,500 scholarships for outstanding seniors in the 2011/2012 academic year.  As part of the University’s STEM Initiatives, Western Digital ECS Scholarships support the retention and graduation of students from populations traditionally underrepresented in the engineering and computer science sectors such as women and minority students.  These scholarships are merit and need based. 

CRITERIA: Spring 2012 WD ECS Scholarships for Outstanding Seniors

• In their senior year, outstanding students who have achieved senior status and are preparing to complete their engineering or computer science degree are eligible to receive a Western Digital ECS Scholarship. 
• Priority in the award criteria will be given to:
• Orange County residents,
• Students from populations traditionally underrepresented in the engineering and computer science sectors such as women and minority students, and,
• Engineering Innovation (or similar programs) alumni who subsequently attended ECS. 
• Applicants should have the recommendation of their Department Chair and/or Faculty teaching a senior-level section.
• Awards will be based on performance, demonstrated need and maintenance of eligibility (3.0 GPA and above).

To be considered for a Spring 2012 WD ECS Scholarship for Outstanding Seniors, please complete the standard CSUF Student Affairs Scholarship & Award Application and obtain a letter of recommendation from your department chair and/or faculty member teaching a senior-level class section in which you are participating. 

Submit your completed application and letter(s) of recommendation no later than Wednesday, November 23rd to: Victor Delgado, Assistant Dean, College of Engineering and Computer Science (CS-501).

Please Note: Recipients of the Spring 2012 WD ECS Scholarship for Outstanding Seniors are expected to attend the ECS 2011 Donors, Advisors and Scholars Reception on Thursday, December 15, 2011.

Women's Transportation Seminar (WTS) Graduate and Undergraduate Scholarships

About: WTS Orange County will award both undergraduate (at least $1,500) and graduate scholarships ($2,500). The top undergraduate and graduate winners will then go on to compete for two National WTS scholarships valued at $3,000 each.

DEMONSTRATION OF ENERGY EFFICIENT DEVELOPMENT (DEED) STUDENT GRANTS/ INTERNSHIPS

Student Research Grants and Internships

DEED student research grants/internships support students studying in energy-related disciplines, increase awareness of career opportunities in public power, and provide assistance to DEED member utility sponsors. Each year up to ten, $4,000 student research grants and internships are awarded to students conducting research on an energy-related project. Students must be sponsored by a DEED member utility and are required to write an abstract and final report at the completion of the project. .

Student Eligibility Requirements: Only students studying in energy-related disciplines from accredited colleges or universities in the U.S. or Canada are eligible for student research grants/internships. Applicants will not be discriminated against on the basis of sex, race, religion, national origin, or citizenship. Students must obtain a DEED member sponsor for their student research grant/internship. Find a DEED member utility, and email DEED to request the specific contact information for the utility you wish to approach regarding sponsorship.

Deadlines: February 15 and October 1 each year.

Baccalaureate Degree Completion Program (BDCP) in Orange County

About: If you are a college student who is interested in becoming a naval officer when you
graduate, but don’t want to participate in any ROTC while in college, you can apply for
the Navy’s Baccalaureate Degree Completion Program (BDCP). BDCP will pay you up
to $100,000 to complete your degree. You will not have to wear uniforms, or take any special courses while in college.

Criteria:
-Be a U.S. citizen
-Have completed 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours
-Have a 2.7/4.0 GPA
-Be younger than age 34 before completing your degree
-Meet the Navy’s physical requirements
-Be enrolled in or accepted for transfer to a regionally accredited four-year college or u

Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate Program (NUPOC)
in Orange County

About: If you are interested in becoming a naval nuclear engineering officer when you graduate, but don’t want to participate in any ROTC while in college, you can apply for the Navy’s Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate Program. NUPOC offers up to $100,000 to complete your degree. The money is sent directly to you to spend as you see fit. You will not have to wear uniforms, or take any special military courses while in college.
Criteria:
-Be a U.S. citizen
-Have completed one year of calculus and calculus-based physics
(with grades of C or better).
-Have a 2.0/4.0 GPA (>3.4 GPA is competitive!)
-Be younger than age 31 before completing your degree
-Meet the Navy’s physical requirements
-Be enrolled in or accepted for transfer to a regionally accredited four-year college or university.

National Academy Scholarship

About: The National Academy Educational Assistance Program awards scholarships and fellowships to engineering students demonstrating outstanding academic achievement and interest in careers in the nuclear power industry. The program is administered by INPO. (http://www.inpo.org)

Undergraduate scholarships:

	Full-time students at U.S. colleges and universities majoring in nuclear, mechanical and electrical engineering, power-generation health physics, and chemical engineering with a nuclear or power option are encouraged to apply.
	Rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are U.S. citizens and have a minimum 3.0 grade point average are eligible.
	Candidates are identified in two ways - recommendation by the college/university or endorsement of their applications by the faculty representative or engineering department head.
	Applications are available from colleges and universities, from the National Academy, from the INPO members website (http://www.inpo.org) for member organizations, or from the "Careers and Education" section of the Nuclear Energy Institute public Website, http://www.nei.org.

Graduate Fellowships:

	Annually, the heads of engineering and health physics at U.S. colleges or universities with graduate nuclear engineering and/or power-generation health physics programs are invited to submit proposals to participate in this educational support program.
	Proposals describe each program's scope and curriculum, faculty credentials, nuclear power industry interactions, and statistics for student placement in the industry.
	Following a rigorous review process, an independent committee of former professional educators and utility managers rates and ranks institutions to receive the fellowships.
	The National Academy then allocates fellowship awards among the top-ranked institutions. The institutions select students, who receive the support following approval by the National Academy.

Stokes Educational Scholarship Program Application

Amount: Tuition at the college of your choice, reimbursement for books and certain fees, housing and travel entitlements during summer employment (if the distance between the NSA and school exceeds 75 miles), a year-round salary, and employment opportunity

Department: Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Engineering

Open to: High school seniors and college sophomores

5. Copy of your SAT/ACT or College Board scores (required for high school students only).
6. Three (3) pages of supplemental information, if desired. This information can be anything that would enhance your appliccation, such as an original essay, math problem, etc...

Criteria:

Qualifications for High School Students: Must be a U.S. citizen, high school senior at the time of application, minimum SAT/College Board score of 1100, or ACT score of 25, GPA of 3.0 or higher (4.0 scale), and demonstrates leadership abilities.

Qualifications for College Sophomore: Must be a U.S. citizen, have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher for Freshman year, and have six credits in one of our core languages.
