The Center for Embedded Networked Sensing (CENS) offers four opportunities for students to get involved in our research:

bullet Summer School @ CENS :  A pre-internship program that provides undergraduates an opportunity to learn the foundations of ENS technology and academic achievement to prepare for future research opportunities.  Participants will enroll in the "Foundations of ENS Technology" computer science class and, upon completion, received credit for the UCLA summer school course.  Deadline to apply will be in Winter 2006.
bullet CENS Summer Internship Program :  This eight-week residential summer program provides undergraduates hands-on research experience working with faculty and graduate student mentors as well as other undergraduates.  This program is designed to provide students a glimpse of life in graduate school so that they can prepare for their future beyond graduation.  Deadline to apply is February 15, 2006.
bullet CENS Graduate Student Affiliate Program:  Become a graduate student affiliate of CENS or find out about our graduate student research fellowships, working with faculty on CENS-related research.  CENS supports programs for graduate student affiliates who are attending one of our related graduate programs (at UCLA, USC, UCR, Caltech, and UC Merced).
bullet NSF STC Summer Internships :  As an NSF STC, CENS also promotes internships at the 13 Science & Technology Centers across the country, each focused on a different research area.  For more information, please check out the website at www.nsfstc.org .

What is CENS?

Headquartered at UCLA (with partners at USC, UCR, Caltech, and UC Merced), CENS is an National Science Foundation Science & Technology Center that develops Embedded Networked Sensing (ENS) systems, which are massively distributed collections of smart sensors and actuators embedded in the physical world. ENS systems will form a critical infrastructure resource for society, similar to the Internet for the physical world.  This revolutionary technology is applied to critical scientific and social applications, including applications in terrestrial ecology, seismology, contaminant management, and marine biology.  To learn more, please check out our website at www.cens.ucla.edu .

For more information on any of CENS student opportunities, please go to www.cens.ucla.edu (and click onto the Education page).
