Friday, November 4, 2005

Assembly Woman Lynn Daucher representing Assembly District 72 that includes Cal State Fullerton visited Dr. Raman Unnikrishnan, the dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science. During her visit, she toured the facilities and discussed the need to develop and maintain a highly effective technical workforce in Orange County to remain competitive within the increasing global context of engineering and computer science.
Rep. Daucher is very active in the community and is a member of various PTA's, the Kiwanis Club of Brea , the Republican Women of Brea and youth sports and high school booster clubs. She prides herself as a representative most responsive to constituent needs. She says, "My number one priority as your representative in the California State Assembly is to listen to your concerns and to be available to answer any questions you may have. Understanding that it is sometimes difficult for you to visit my district office, I have decided to bring my office to you." Her visit to the campus was a fine example of this stated philosophy.
Rep. Daucher suggested that industry leaders, elected officials, university administration and faculty should work in unison to raise the special needs of engineering and computer science, especially as they relate to modern infrastructure. She offered her help in this regard.
