Technology Breakfast: "Energy for the West: Resources from Southern California Edison " by Henry Martinez- February 05, 2009

The production and delivery of electrical power to customers is dependent on generation resources that use a variety of energy sources and technologies, and the transmission grid infrastructure. The Southern California Edison electrical power system contains one of the most diverse portfolios of generation resources, each possessing unique characteristics that can present differing challenges in a deregulated energy environment. When these challenges are coupled with environmental issues, maintaining reliable operations can become increasingly difficult for operators. Aspects of these and future issues were highlighted from a high level and technical perspective by Henry Martinez, Southern California Edison Director of Grid Operations.
