Approximately 350 students from the area high schools recently took part in various contests showcasing mathematics, engineering and science achievement during Cal State Fullerton's annual MESA Day Festivities February 23. MESA Day was just part of the many activities held throughout the month of February during "Launch your future" Engineering and Computer Science Weeks 2005.

Following the bridge building contest, below, Beatriz Hernandez and Melany Pary show Peter W. Othmer, professor of mechanical engineering, their fourth-place winning entry as first place winner Maricruz Gonzales looks on. All three builders are from Saddleback High School in Santa Ana.
