What
do I need to know about New Student Orientation?
New
Student Orientation is mandatory for all first-time
freshmen. If you plan to attend Cal State Fullerton in
the fall, you MUST register for an orientation program
no later than May 8, 2009 at 5:00pm. Doing so will confirm your intent
to attend Cal State Fullerton. If you do not register
for orientation, you risk losing your admissions offer.
Orientation is also a great opportunity for you
to meet other incoming students and make valuable
connections with current students, faculty and staff
here at Cal State Fullerton. Most importantly you’ll
receive academic advisement (counseling regarding
your general education requirements and classes needed
for your major) and you’ll be able to register
for your classes with priority registration.
For Transfer students, New Student Orientation offers
an “insider's” introduction to your new
university community. You'll meet fellow transfer students
and make valuable connections with current students,
faculty and staff here at Cal State Fullerton. We've
learned that when new students make these early connections,
they are more likely to achieve a successful transition
to college and stay in college. They're also more likely
to be satisfied with their experience, achieve better
grades, and graduate!
If you have questions about New Student Orientation,
call (657) 278-2501.

What
about summer session?
All incoming freshmen will have an academic advisement
hold that will not allow them to register for summer
or fall classes until they have attended New
Student Orientation and received academic
advisement. If your summer class begins prior to New
Student Orientation, contact the Academic
Advisement Center (657-278-3601) to have
your summer advisement hold removed. Freshmen taking
summer courses that begin in July can attend New Student
Orientation to remove both their summer and fall advising
holds and register for both summer and fall courses
at the same time.
All incoming freshmen who do not pass the English
and/or Mathematics placement examinations must
take remedial courses their first semester. We
strongly encourage you to complete remedial coursework
during summer session. Freshmen courses are offered
during two summer sessions: Session “C” starts
June 21 (the Freshmen Success Program); Session “B” begins
July 6.
