Eti Gunawan is an international student who graduated from Parakanita High School in Jakarta, Indonesia.
After being out of school for eight years, Eti came to the United States to take courses at the City College of San Francisco. She attended that school first, but then changed to Fullerton College where she completed her general education and major preparation coursework.
Eti decided to transfer to Cal State Fullerton after visiting the campus and learning that the Business major would provide her with various experiences that she was looking for. As a part of her preparation, she utilized the services of the Cal State Fullerton Transfer Center, and in working with her counselor at Fullerton College. She credits her counselor with helping her to identify the necessary coursework she needed in order to transfer.
One of the challenges she faced when she became a student at Cal State Fullerton was in finding her classes. Also, she experienced larger class sizes than she has been accustomed to at Fullerton College. Although the campus was big, Eti found the resources she needed to have a smooth transition into Cal State Fullerton.
Eti recommends that all transfer students meet with a Cal State Fullerton
representative. She also encourages any potential transfer students
to visit their community college transfer center. After admission
and before classes begin, she strongly recommends that students attend
a transfer student orientation.
