When Ryan graduated from Fullerton High School he decided to attend Fullerton Community College because of its location and because he was not prepared for the university. He spent the next three years working and completing his requirements.
Ryan chose to apply to Cal State Fullerton for three reasons. First, it was close to home, his mother is an alumna of the university, and because of its excellent reputation. In preparation for transferring, Ryan met with counselors at Fullerton College’s Cadena Center. He met with counselors to discuss his course preparation requirements and to have his transcripts evaluated.
Ryan’s transfer experience was positive, and he felt as if the campus reached out to him. In particular, one of the clubs he was involved in at his community college had an ongoing collaboration with its Cal State Fullerton counterpart. According to Ryan, because of his involvement as a student he felt comfortable stepping onto the CSUF campus.
Ryan’s advice to transfer students is to get involved in clubs
and various organizations at Cal State Fullerton. Moreover, he encourages
students to research both their university and major options before
transferring. As a part of the selection process, he recommends that
you visit the campus you are interested in and get familiar with it
sooner than later. Ryan graduated from Cal State Fullerton in December,
2004.
