Cal State Fullerton students

Once you have selected one or more institutions in which you may be interested, you will want to consider what you need to do in order to transfer. You can learn all important requirements to attend Cal State Fullerton and other CSU campuses by visiting www.csumentor.edu. On that web site, you can create a transfer planner to help you meet general education requirements for the California State University system.

Upper-Division Transfer Requirements

To transfer to the California State University system, you need the following:

  • 60 transferable units (90 quarter units) which include:

  • A minimum of 30 semester units (45 quarter units) in CSU-approved general education (GE) course work with a grade of C or better.

  • The Golden Four requirements with a grade of C or better:
    - Oral Communication
    - Written Communication
    - Critical Thinking
    - Mathematics/Quantitative Reasoning.

  • Effective Fall 2009, Cal State Fullerton is an impacted campus at the transfer and first time freshman levels. Please consult with Cal State Fullerton's Transfer Center or an outreach counselor for the most current admission information.

  • Good academic standing at the last college or university attended.

General Education Certification is strongly recommended. Information on GE certification is available at the Admissions and Records Offices, Counseling Centers, and Transfer Centers at all California community colleges

Apply to university of your choice
A year before you would like to transfer, research the application period at the campuses of your choice. Many campuses will not accept later applications. At Cal State Fullerton, the application periods begin as listed below. Please note that applications for admission will only be accepted until enrollment limits are met.

Applications for the Fall semester are accepted beginning October 1st of the prior year. Applications for the Spring semester are accepted beginning August 1st.
