Instructions for Finding
a Federal Work Study (FWS) Job
(You must have been awarded FWS funds)
Six easy steps!
- Select FWS jobs that interest you by reviewing
FWS Job Listing web page
- Call contact person to request a job interview
- Bring a copy of your "Award Summary" from TITAN Online, a picture ID, and social security card to
your interview
- Once hired, your employer will inform the Office of Financial Aid
- Wait patiently while the Office of Financial
Aid confirms your eligibility and notifies your employer when you can begin to
work
- Report to work and learn about your employer's
performance expectations during your 1st day on the job
Note these FWS Qualification Requirements:
Anyone can access the Federal Work
Study (FWS) Job Listings to find employment; however, to be considered for a Federal Work-Study
position you must be:
- awarded Federal Work-Study as part
of your financial aid offer;
- enrolled at CSUF in at least 6 units
(half-time);
- a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
;
- able to produce your social security
card; and
- be making satisfactory academic progress.
FWS Employee Responsibilities:
- Complete new student employee orientation
- Maintain enrollment in at least 6 units
- If you are enrolled in fewer than 6.1 units, deductions for Medicare (1.45%) will be taken from your paycheck
- Perform your assignment in a responsible manner
- Maintain confidentially
- Monitor your earnings so you do not exceed your award
