These scholarships have been established to assist students majoring in programs offered by the College of Health and Human Development. Information about the possibility of additional scholarships may be obtained from the Office of the Assistant Dean, EC-606.
Note: The notification process does not include a notification to all applicants but only to the selected recipient(s) of the scholarship. The expected date of notification is the end of May.
Alumni Association Scholarship for the College of Health and Human Development
Amount: $1,000
Established by: This scholarship was established and funded by the Cal State Fullerton Alumni Association to recognize students who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance in the College of Health and Human Development. In addition, this scholarship recognizes leadership and service within the college.
Open to: This scholarship is open to new and continuing majors in the College of Health and Human Development who are pursuing an undergraduate or a graduate degree.

Timothy S. Ray Scholarship Fund
Amount: $500 (subject to funding)
Established by: This scholarship is funded by the parents of Timothy S. Ray to honor his memory and to assist students who are preparing for a career in the helping professions.
Open To: This scholarship is open to continuing full-time juniors and seniors majoring in Human Services, Child Development or Counseling.

The Althea Bernhard McLaren Art Award in Child Development
Amount: $250 and a plaque (subject to funding)
Established by: This scholarship is named in memory of Althea Bernhard McLaren by her husband, Dr. Robert McLaren, Professor Emeritus, CSUF. Selection of the recipient will include a review of how drawing, painting, sculpture or music fosters creativity and art appreciation among children.
Open to: This scholarship is open to new and continuing junior and senior students with a major in Child and Adolescent Studies and either Visual Art or Music.

Established by: This scholarship was established by Dr. Robert B. McLaren to recognize and honor students who demonstrate skills in researching the foundations of moral development in children and youth in a child-care setting, youth group, religious institution or school.
Open To: This scholarship is open to Child and Adolescent Studies majors.

Established by: This scholarship was established by Dr. Mikyong Kim-Goh and her family to honor the memory of their mother. Students with demonstrated commitment and dedication to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and families are especially encouraged to apply.

Beverly and Arnold Miller University Scholarship in Gerontology
Amount: $1,000 to $1,500 (up to 8 awards)
Established by: This scholarship is an endowed program established by Beverly and Arnold Miller to provide support to students who are pursuing careers in Gerontology. Awards are given annually with the opportunity to be renewed with demonstrated recipient accomplishments. Finalists may be asked to participate in an interview.
Open to: This scholarship is open to junior/senior students with a minor or concentration in Gerontology or to graduate students who have been accepted into the M.S. Gerontology Degree program.

Dr. Sandra Russell Award for Group Leadership

Established by: This scholarship is sponsored by the Human Services Student Association, Human Services Program and Dr. J. Michael Russell. Dr. Sandra Russell contributed to the training of group leaders from 1983 to 1993 and this scholarship was created in memory of what she inspired.
Open to: This scholarship is open to current students who have been or wish to be group leaders for any of the Human Services 300, Character and Conflict classes.

Kinesiology Sport and Exercise Psychology Scholarship
Amount: $150.00
Established by: This scholarship was established and funded by Dr. Carol Weinmann, Kinesiology Department and Professor Emeritus to recognize and honor a student who demonstrates the importance of the psychological/mental role in performance behavior. The Selection Committee will select the recipient (who is continuing enrollment in the following fall semester) and award the scholarship at the end of the spring semester for use in the fall semester to help purchase textbooks and materials. If the applicant is graduating in the spring semester, the senior must show verification of applying to an advanced degree program. An “A” grade is required from KNES 383 (Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity). The applicant, if they haven’t, must plan on taking either KNES 432 (Applied Exercise Psychology), KNES 430 (Applied Sport Psychology), HESC 430 (Health Psychophysiology I) or HESC 440 (Determinants of Health Behavior).
Open to: This award is open to full time junior and senior Kinesiology majors.

Julie Max Athletic Training Scholarship
Amount: Two $750 or three $500 awards (subject to funding)
Established by: This scholarship was established by Dr. Brent Brevard, 1983, to promote the Athletic Training Education Program and encourage educational success among program participants.
Open to: This scholarship is open to any currently enrolled and returning student for the next academic year who have been accepted into the Athletic Training Education Program.
Criteria: Financial need • Demonstrated academic, clinical and professional success

MILITARY SCIENCE
Army ROTC Scholarships
Amount: Full tuition, plus $900 for books and up to $500 per month for cost of living expenses
Established by: This scholarship is funded by the Military Science/Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Program. Two, three and four-year scholarships are offered. The number of scholarships awarded annually is dependent upon the number of applicants. The cost of living expense is prorated based on class level ($300, freshmen; $350, sophomores; $450, juniors; $500, seniors). If you would like more information, contact (714) 278-3007/5545.

Federal Traineeship Funds for Graduate Nursing Students
Amount: Varies (subject to funding)
Established by: This program was established by the federal government to assist graduate nursing students. Two traineeships are awarded: One to first year graduate students only; one to second year anesthesia students.
Open to: This scholarship is open to students in the graduate nursing program.
Criteria: 3.0 GPA • Admitted to CSUF graduate nursing program • Continuous enrollment in the pre-planned program

Maria Dolores Hernandez Fund

Established by: This scholarship is named for Maria Dolores Hernandez, who was a nursing leader in Orange County and an officer in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years.
Open to: This scholarship is open to students who have been admitted to the CSUF Nursing Program.

Kaiser Permanente Registered Nurse Scholarship

Open to: This scholarship is open to registered nurses enrolled in a baccalaureate nursing program.

National Association of Hispanic Nurses Scholarship
Amount: $1,000
Established by: This scholarship is sponsored by the Orange County Chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN). Applicants must be residents of Orange County or nominated by a NAHN Orange County member. Other scholarship opportunities offered by NAHN can be found at www.thehispanicnurses.org.
Open to: This scholarship is open to Orange County resident students who plan to enroll or have been admitted to the CSUF Nursing BSN or MSN programs.
